Pit's Letter hardcover: $22.00
This book, based on Sue Coe's 1999 exhibition The Pit: The Tragical Tale of the Rise and Fall of a Vivisector, combines text and imagery to convey the life of a dog, whose experiences echo the thousands of animals daily picked up by the pounds, put to death, or worse, brought to labs to be used for experimentation. In this modern day morality tale, Pit's human companion, Pat, goes from pet lover to mediocre scientist, whose humanity deteriorates when blind ambition drives him to do scientific research on animals. Only after Pat ends up as a human experiment in the hands of his fellow scientists does he see the error of his ways.
