1903 Founded in Vienna by Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser, with backing from Fritz Wärndorfer
1904 Receives commission to design Purkersdorf Sanatorium
1905 Receives commission to design Palais Stoclet (completed 1911) in Brussels
1906 Berthold Löffler and Michael Powolny found the Wiener Keramik, an offshoot specializing in ceramics, in Vienna
1907 Cabaret Fledermaus commission in Vienna
1908 Collaborates on Kunstschau
1910 Eduard Josef Wimmer Wisgril opens first fashion department at Werkstätte's Karlsbad branch
1913 Temporary halt in production due to massive debt
1919 Dagobert Peche becomes artistic director (dies 1923) in Vienna
1921 Josef Urban opens NY branch
1926 Attempting to reorganize its finances in Vienna, the Wiener Werkstätte becomes a publicly held corporation
1929 Financial problems worsen
1930 The silver workshop is closed; the business is again reorganized
1932 Final liquidation
1966 1st American show at Galerie St. Etienne, NY
